While the European market has had the chance to explore the future of the SingStar franchise on their glossy black systems since the '07 holidays, the United States and Canada won't be able to join in on the late-night singing sessions until May 20th, when SingStar and the game's social network My SingStar Online comes to North America. Thirteen million units have been sold worldwide, five million in the last year alone, which includes the European release of SingStar for the PlayStation 3. Obscure references to the global music scene aside, the strength of the SingStar franchise can't be argued.
There's the special SingStar Die Toten Hosen release for die-hard fans of the German punk band, SingStar Latino for those who can roll their Rs, and even a SingStar Bollywood edition for when you want to sing along to a few Indian blockbusters.
The SingStar brand of karaoke games has been quite successful throughout Europe, largely thanks to SCE London Studio's efforts in giving the fans what they wanted.
